Early Childhood Council of the San Luis Valley is partnered in a variety
of pilot programs. Our mission is to enrich the
lives of children and families across our area.

Educare.org and CORRA.org
merged together and formed Qualistar.org (formerly CORRA) a non-profit
organization dedicated to
coordinating a statewide system of organizations dedicated to enhancing
the quality, training and availability of child care in Colorado and to
promoting character education in schools and communities. Qualistar's
(formerly Educare's) main purpose is to make children aware that their
character is their real strength, and that all other acquisitions such
as wealth and education is of no real value without character. The

The Consolidated
Child Care Pilots were established by the Colorado General Assembly in 1997.
The program goal is to help meet the need for full-day, full-year, quality
early childhood services as a partner to welfare reform. The

• Quality
comprehensive services for low income children and their working families
to support
success in school and throughout their lives.
• Consolidate
funding sources to create a seamless system.
• Ensure
collaboration among public and private stakeholders in the delivery
of early childhood care and education services;
• Include
program components consistent with quality; and Be
responsive to the needs of working parents. This project is funded by 1997 Senate
Bill 97-174 Community Consolidated Child Care Pilots.

Every young child in Colorado will have access to high quality early

CAEYC Mission and Goals: CAEYC serves and acts on behalf of the needs, rights, and well-being
of children, families, and early childhood educators. CAEYC Goals:
• To
promote high quality developmentally appropriate, accessible early childhood
care and educational services
for Colorado children from birth
to age 8.
• To
offer professional development opportunities to early childhood educators.
• To advocate for improved compensation, working conditions, and recognition
for individuals in the early childhood profession.
• To educate and influence policymakers, elected officials and the public
at large to achieve the mission and goals of CAEYC.
• To cooperate with local, state, and national organizations and agencies
working with and for young children. 
It's
About Kids is a statewide project that stimulates dialogue on children's
issues through a diverse child advocacy network across Colorado. It's About
Kids brings local communities together to develop a legislative agenda
for kids and increase the voice of those communities in the legislative
process. The San Luis Valley is an "It's About Kids Pilot Community." more

• Develop
a local It's About Kids Steering Committee.
• Appoint
a local community leader to serve on the statewide advisory committee
that helps craft the annual legislative agenda about issues affecting
children.
• Develop
a local email network and communicate weekly updates and action alerts
on child issues.
• Host
local advocacy and media workshops.
